Be a Hippie for Christ

As much as I love pretending to be a hippie, I don't completely agree with all the aspects of the hippie movement from the 60s/70s. Freedom, peace, and love are all great things, but I don't identify with smoking, drinking, drugs, and other "physical" aspects of the movement. However, in many ways, Christ was kind of like a hippie. The whole "love your neighbour" and bringing peace to His people is very hippie in my opinion. I found this post on Facebook and thought it was absolutely brilliant so I had to share it with you!

Pray for Your enemies.
Drink Wine.
Eat with sinners.
Hang out with Tax collectors, Prostitutes, and Lepers.
Forgive Often.
Love the Poor.
Love the Sinner, Hate your own sin.
Empty yourself so you may serve others.
Touch the dead.
Touch the unclean.
Heal the broken.
Heal the blind.
Give women a place at the table, a place as students and teachers, and send them out as ministers of the Gospel.
Proclaim the Good News to the Poor.
Visit the sick.
Visit the prisoner.
Love the immigrant.
Teach to people who will not listen, and those who close their eyes.
Wash feet.
When asked who is most righteous and who is my neighbor, tell a story about a person from a people who were despised ethnically, and whose theology was not orthodox, being willing to love lavishly, and then offer examples of the most "religious" people in town skipping over the one in need.
Flip over tables occasionally, but be willing to also die for those who accuse you.
Go to the cross.
Forgive them, for they know not what they do.
Die to Self so we may be resurrected to New Life.
