Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

Image
Hello! Christmastime is almost here and I am so excited! Christmas is my favourite holiday. It's so magical seeing the sparkling snow everywhere, the Christmas lights twinkling, big evergreen trees covered in shiny baubles, and everything is decorated in glitter. My favourite! Not to mention all the wonderful foods such as pumpkin pie, turkey, and hot cocoa. Next to Thanksgiving, Christmas is one of the tastiest times of the year. However, to me, the most magical part of Christmas is getting to spend time with my family. We like to get together with a lot of our family on Christmas Eve, get all dressed up and attend a Christmas Eve candlelight service, have a big dinner together, and open presents. Maybe Christmas isn't as magical for you, and that's okay. Everyone has their favourites :) Speaking of the Christmas season, school is finally out!!! I can't believe the semester is over, where did the time go? I remember starting the semester and feeling like a...

A Poem of Thankfulness

Image
Back when I was around 14 years old, I started, and mostly completed, a poem. I don't typically write poems, I tend to get writer's block, but this one just flowed right out of my pencil. I started with the idea of "if you woke up tomorrow and only had what you thanked God for, how different would your life be?" and thus, this poem was born. I stored it away for the next five years until my 19 year old self found it and added one more verse to it. Now I have the completed version for you! In the spirit of Thanksgiving (even if it's a few days late), here is my poem of thankfulness. Enjoy :) I thank God for my bedroom, and for my comfy bed; for blankets that can keep me warm, and pillows for my head. I thank God for these books to read, and thoughts to fill my mind; for memories that work well so I don't leave things behind. I thank God for life's ups and downs 'cause without them, life's dull. When sun shine...

Autumn is in the Air

Image
Annyeonghaseyo! Fall is coming and I'm so excited! I'm counting down the weeks to the end of school: Four weeks plus finals (minues Thanksgiving break). Where has the time gone? Didn't we just start the semester last week? Also, I can't even believe it's November already. I'm happy it hasn't been cold enough to the point where I'm wearing jumpers and joggers everyday, but it's still warmer than I would like. Hopefully those autumnal temperatures are just around the corner! My younger brother happens to be growing it far too quickly. Just last weekend we travelled to our state capitol so I could take his senior pictures (he is way into politics, so it seemed fitting). Senior pictures!! He is seventeen and about to graduate highschool as well as achieve the rank of Eagle Scout!! I'm so super proud and all, but that's not okay!! He will forever be my "baby brother". Isn't he sharp? I rest my case. Congratul...

Just Checkin' In...

Image
Hello! I thought I would take this time to write about my life and how my second year at school is going. Midterms are nearing and Fall Break is right around the corner; it's hard to believe school didn't just start last week! I stupidly decided to take on 19 credit hours this semester because I really want to get this transfer degree done with so I can move on the more important things, such as Psychology degree classes.  It's also crazy to think that I'm already on my second year of college. How did one year go by so fast? I'm thankful my first semester went as smoothly as it did. Being that I was only minimum full-time, it wasn't too bad. My second semester was a bit of a headache though. But that's another story for another day.  So, what have I been up to? Well, for school, I'm taking six classes: College Algebra, Intro to Astronomy, Public Speaking, Intro to Humanities, Personal Computer Applications, and American Political Governmen...

Be a Hippie for Christ

Image
As much as I love pretending to be a hippie, I don't completely agree with all the aspects of the hippie movement from the 60s/70s. Freedom, peace, and love are all great things, but I don't identify with smoking, drinking, drugs, and other "physical" aspects of the movement. However, in many ways, Christ was kind of like a hippie. The whole "love your neighbour" and bringing peace to His people is very hippie in my opinion. I found this post on Facebook and thought it was absolutely brilliant so I had to share it with you! Pray for Your enemies. Drink Wine. Eat with sinners. Hang out with Tax collectors, Prostitutes, and Lepers. Forgive Often. Love the Poor. Love the Sinner, Hate your own sin. Empty yourself so you may serve others. Touch the dead. Touch the unclean. Heal the broken. Heal the blind. Give women a place at the table, a place as students and teachers, and send them out as ministers of the Gospel. Proclaim the Good News to the Poor. Visi...

A Bit About Personality Types... S and N

Image
Hello! The topic I've had on my mind to write about lately has been the MBTI preferences. I'm an INFJ. But what does that really mean?? Because there is quite a bit to cover on this topic, this will be the first in a series of posts about the MBTI personality preferences. It may seem like it would make sense to start off with the first letter preferences: I or E. However, those tend to be the most discussed of the letters so I think I'll save that one for a later date. I'll jump right in to the next ones: S or N. *Disclaimer : I am in no way a professional on the topic so what I say may or may not be completely correct. However, these shouldn't be too far off the mark. I encourage you to research them and learn for yourself! ~First, lets cover Sensing (S)~ Sensors tend to be rather concrete driven individuals. They pay attention to their different senses sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. They like what is real and present to them in that mom...

A British Street Party

Image
What a better way to kick of the beginning of May than with a British street party?? Bagpipes, old cars, Celtic dancers, cloggers, human foosball, and declicious pasties; what more could you want? What a lovely serenade while we ate our pasties They even had a double decker bus! "Keep Calm and Clog On" Celtic Fire I've never played regular soccer before, but I scored two goals! Got my game face on. This is Neil, he is the owner of London Calling, a British food truck, and is a very cool person!

Purple Hair, Don't Care

Image
So finally, after 18 years of living my life, I finally did something super crazy. I dyed my hair purple. Not a super bright and in your face kind of purple, but more of a subtly in your face kind of purple. I've never dyed my whole head before, just bits and pieces, so I'm pretty stoked for this change! That's one tick for the bucket list! What shall I tackle next, hm? Maybe I'll go travel the world. :)
